1123: Kellogg’s Breakfast of Politics

Journalist Warner Todd Huston

Is the Kellogg Foundation stealing from children?

It’s one of the best business plans ever: Put a nickels’ worth of grain in a box with your name on it and sell it for five bucks. Why, you could make a fortune!

W.K. Kellogg made a fortune putting a few pennies worth of grain in a box… Remember the jingle… “K-E-Double L-OH Double Good Kellogg’s Best to you!”

When it came time for W.K. Kellogg to move on back in 1930 he set up a foundation to… “Use the money as you please so long as it promotes the health, happiness, and well-being of children.”

It was a nice gesture and a noble sentiment, right?

But recently the folks at the Washington Free Beacon got a peek at the tax forms of a Washington, D.C. political organization calling itself The Center for Community Change. There are the top of the org’s donor list was the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Seeing the W.K. Kellogg Foundation using the Kellogg’s cereal money to push various political causes leads us to ask…

Is Kellogg’s stealing money from children?
