1116: Of Bad Things in Good Foods

Dr. Renee Dufault
Author, Unsafe At Any Meal

Why does the FDA allow bad things in good food?

In the last couple of weeks…

High levels of phthalates were found in 10 of 10 samples of boxed macaroni and cheese. Nine of the 10 were manufactured by the Kraft company.

Phthalates are an industrial chemical used in the manufacture of adhesives, plastics, and rubber coatings. Phthalates have been linked to breast cancer, diabetes, and male infertility.

Glyphosate was found in 10 of 11 samples of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the weed killer trade named Roundup, and is used in the production of most of America’s principal crops. Glyphosate is an endocrine disruptor the World Health Organization claims to be a “probable cause of cancer” in human beings.

Then this…

Men in the developed world have lost 59.3% of their total sperm count over the past 40 years, and continue to lose their count at the rate of 1.4% per year.
Men in the developing world have lost none of their sperm count.

And so we ask…

Why does the FDA allow bad things in good food?
