Its easy to see, with a quick look around any public place, that we are becoming overweight and, in all too many cases, dangerously diabetic.
How overweight? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 67% of us are overweight, and 34% of us are obese. How diabetic? The Diabetes Clearing House estimates that 7.8% of us-– 23.6 million people– suffer from Type II diabetes, which costs us about $113 billion dollars a year.
Some say the reason for our excess weight is that we try to eat our way to happiness, but instead are tricked by our taste buds into eating our way into a sadness that can only be cured by more eating.
The length of our waistlines, the extravagance of our medical bills and our sleepless nights begs us to ask….
Can we eat our way to happiness?
